How To Print Green

Try to incorporate these green business practices to keep the environment and your costs healthy.

Switch to an All in One – By having just one multifunction printer instead of individual scanners, printers and fax machines, means you will be only buying supplies for one device. As well as saving money, you will be cutting down on all the energy you would be using to power all of those other devices.

Duplex Printing – This means being able to print on both sides of a piece of paper, which will obviously reduce the amount of paper you use. There are many printers and multifunction printers that now have automatic double-sided printing.

Bulk Buying – If you buy your toner or paper in bulk you will save on the cost per unit and also reduce the amount of waste packaging. High-capacity or high-efficiency items will lower your per unit or per print cost.

Recycled Paper – Using recycled paper and recycling paper not only saves trees but also energy, chemicals and water. The Paper Industry Association Councils goal is to reach 60% paper recovery by 2012. Having recycling boxes at each desk and using environmentally preferable papers will help to reach this goal.

No Paper – Keep it simple, distribute documents electronically instead of a hard copy when you can.

Preserve Ink & Toner – For the less important prints that don’t need a higher quality print, consider using your printers draft and toner saving modes.

Recycle Empty Toner Bottles and Cartridges – Help to keep used printer supplies out of landfills by taking advantage of recycling programs.

Oki A3 C801n Printer – Review

Oki C801n

The Oki C801n is a high quality A3 laser LED ultra-compact colour printer. With a design that takes up less space than any other comparable printer, making it suitable for even the smallest of offices.

The C801n spec shows that it is capable of 22ppm colour and 32ppm mono speeds which we found to be very accurate and even found that our colour speed exceeded the stated figures. We also loved the fast first page print speed .

The Printer Experts found the Oki C801n to be very reliable due to the LED print technology that Oki have been pioneering for nigh on 20 years. More of this please!

The Oki C801n also wins big on its impressive printing quality which is in no small part down to the specially developed High Definition toner and image drums which produce fine detail and vibrant colour.

The C801n is well suited to smaller workgroups that print mostly A4 documents but also need the convenience of occasional A3 prints at great low prices.  The C801 range includes the C801n network version and the C801dn which has the added double sided printing duplex.

The excellent performance of this printer makes it superior to most models in its range.

HP CP5225 Colour LaserJet – Review

HP CP5225

Targeted at the small and medium sized business the HP CP5225 Colour LaserJet series will bring quality A3 printing in-house.  Whether it’s for posters, postcards, presentations or photo prints the CP5225 will produce clean crisp blacks with quite basic office standard colours.

If, like Printer Experts you are an environmentally conscious business you will love the HP CP5225.  With the HP Instant-on Technology and automatic duplex printing on board you will be able to preserve consumption of paper and decrease energy usage without forfeiting print performance and quality.

The CP5225 falls disappointingly short on the claimed 20ppm print speeds for A4 black texts, however this tried and tested printer will have your A3 prints emerging at a speedy 12 seconds.

Sadly we discovered the colour results were quite varied with some colour settings over emphasizing the reddish hues.  This makes the CP5225 a good contender for general office printing due to it lacking the punch of high quality graphic prints.

The CP5225 series has 3 variations, the CP5225, the CP5225n which has networking and the CP2552dn which has networking and duplex printing.  At Printer Experts we found the HP CP5225 to be no match for the Oki A3 C810 or the Konica Minolta A3 magicolor 7450II.  Overall the CP5225 is a versatile, nippy workhorse, making colour printing for larger formats easy, getting your prints out with good but not outstanding results.

Are Wireless Printers The Future?

Wireless Printer Network Diagram

As contentious as the 3d in film and cinema debate, everyone selling or buying a wireless printer seems to have their own ideas and opinions on wireless print solutions

So who’s right and who’s wrong? Well, like most things in life (unfortunately), it’s not as simple as a right and wrong situation . Wireless printers and printing solutions can offer a great, flexible and liberating printing experience. That said, Printer Experts occasionally get enquiries from wireless printer buyers who have found them to be problematic, inconsistent  and awkward to implement.

Obviously people’s wireless printing experiences come down to a number of variables, like the wireless router in the office or the installation/ configuration of the wireless printing solution. Ultimately it often comes down to personal preference, some people will love the freedom that comes with wireless printers, while others will prefer the confidence they feel in the consistency in the conventional but reliable wired laser printers.

Printer Experts have published guide to wireless printer and printing solutions, which addresses any questions or issues regarding wireless printing.
