Have you thought of printing in 3 dimensions? How amazing it would be if you can make a copy of your printer using a 3D printer! It doesn’t seem to be a dream. Recent advances in technology are about to make 3D printing a reality.

Many of us are only impressed by huge progressions that new technology makes. However it might be worth to have a thought of how it would effect to the 2D printing world which we live in now. For example, one of the questions about 3D printing is how much it will cost. 3D printing seems to be very hard to be cheap, then, how widely it can be used in the market? If 3D printing can replace workers, how will it change our lives?

It may be a while before some of these questions get answered, but there is no doubt, the potential impact from the invention of 3d printers is massive.

Back in the 2d world of printing Printer Experts are continually striving to deliver better printers at lower costs. One of ourlatest offers are PagePack Printers which can save you over 70% on exisitng printer costs.

Chester Carlson’s invention of xerography, more than 70 years ago was an extraordinary milestone in the development of the modern information age as now individuals could much more easily share and access information.

Xerox has a rich history of innovation. As the inventors of Ethernet over 30 years ago, Xerox helped build the foundation for today’s Internet. In fact, not known to many, the Ethernet’s first commercialization was as a communication bus in their production publishing systems in the early 1990s.

Xerox heritage of innovation continues to flourish. It has 5000 scientists and engineers worldwide. It also has many excellent open innovation partnerships. The most important one is its joint-venture partner Fuji Xerox in Japan which was established in 1962. Together Xerox Group invests $1.4 B in R&D each year. It has been issued over 50 thousand patents worldwide; and is issued 2 patents each and every day. This is a clear indication of the creativity and innovative spirit of our scientists and engineers.

This unlikely looking all-in-one offers a wide range of options and includes features such as Wi-Fi, built-in Fax machine and Automatic Duplex; and it’s only a little larger than a sheet of A4 thanks to the vertical scanner positioned on the front of the machine.

The scanner is able to capture an A4 page in less than three seconds using a FlashScan technology and a 10-megapixel image sensor. Print quality, is high particularly for photo printing. Individual colour and black ink tanks, combined with well-priced refill cartridges mean the Genesis is economical to run.

The Lexmark printer is compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems and the 4.3” touch screen in the centre of the front panel allows easy access to all the options.

If you need a multifunction printer for instant scanning and high quality prints and you don’t have a lot of space on your desk, then the Genesis S815 could be the right choice for you!

A 3D printer that uses chocolate instead of an ink has been designed by University of Exeter. Although this is still a prototype several other retailers have shown a great interest in the device and plan to purchase the printer in the near future.

The 3D Chocolate printer works using the same method as other 3D Printing techniques. The printer starts off by producing a flat cross section image – similar to that produced by normal printers. A 3D shape is then formed – layer by layer, printing chocolate instead of ink. As each layer is being formed, it becomes solid, and then the machine moves on to the next layer and the process continues until the whole 3D printout is completed.

The impressive thing about the 3D chocolate printer is that it allows customers to be able to design any object on a computer before hitting the print button. All the things and possibilities that can be done with this printer like creating 3D faces for instance – are endless.

Looking for a tough robust laser printer that will survive anything? Well look no further than the Dell 3115 laser printer! This impressive printer from Dell managed to survive a EF-4 rated tornado. Hear the story from the printer owner himself…

“…I wanted to share a photo of my 3115cn on 4/28/2011, less than 24hrs after an EF-4 rated tornado directly hit my office. A couple of days after the tornado, it was moved inside, but without much hope that it actually survived. About three weeks later I found the power cord. I plugged it up with crossed fingers, and I’ll be damned if it didn’t make me a blk/white copy…and then a perfect color copy. I can’t fax on it anymore, as the feeder tray at the top no longer works, and it gives me a blue hue when I copy, as the lid doesn’t shut all the way, but, I can print anything from my computer and it’s perfect!…”

The Canon i-SENSYS LBP5360 is a colour laser printer with a number of eye catching features. These come in the form of speed, first page out time, the DPI and the toner capacities. According to Canon the i-SENSYS range is designed to be space efficient, minimise energy and save time. All of which the i-SENSYS LBP5360 lives up to.

The i-SENSYS LBP5360 is designed with an in-line laser engine which works vertically so paper being fed from the 250 sheet paper tray at the bottom passes up the printer and feeds out to its top surface. In doing this the paper passes a colour print mechanism which applies all four colours in a single pass. This may not sound like such an amazing feature until you realise that this means your colour prints will at last run at the same speed as your mono (black) prints.

We found the print speeds to be exceptionally good, with our 5 page black text document printing in just 25 seconds giving us a fantastic print speed of 11ppm. What then surprised us was the time it took to print our five-page mixture of colour graphics and text document. The i-SENSYS LBP5360 printed this document in just 20 seconds (14ppm), which is an amazing 5 seconds faster than a plain black text document and an incredible speed for text and graphics. The LBP5360 also has automatic duplex print capabilities which we also tested. Our 20 side document took only 1:17, this is just over 15 sides a minute and almost the Canon quoted speed of 21ppm. The first page print took only 13 seconds to come through, which is just a bit slower than the quoted 10 seconds. With such little warm up time the i-SENSYS LBP5360 is able to wake from sleep mode almost instantly when it receives a print job.

The print quality of the LBP5360 is also very good with black text coming through sharp, clear and well defined with well-formed characters even at smaller font sizes. Colour graphics were smooth and true to the on screen image. Even colour photos looked natural and smooth which is not what the Printer Experts normally see from a colour laser printer. This is in no small part down to the LBP5360s amazing 9600 x 600 dpi resolution.

Although the i-SENSYS LBP5360 has four separate drum and toner cartridges to maintain the running costs are definitely at the cheaper end of the spectrum. With each cartridge able to produce 6,000 pages at 5 per cent cover you will not be forever maintaining them.

Overall the Canon i-SENSYS LBP5360 is a great colour laser printer. It is able to turn out high quality prints at blistering speed. With a low asking price, cheap running costs and easy maintenance this a very attractive purchase for a small office or large workgroup. The i-SENSYS LBP5360 is highly recommended by the Printer Experts.

The Dell 1350cnw is the world’s smallest A4 laser class network printer. The dimensions of the 1350 are 394mm x 300mm x 225mm (W x D x H) which takes up less space than a lot of inkjet printers. Also with a weight of only 23 pounds it means that most people can move the printer on their own.

The Dell 1350cnw also uses LED technology which uses LEDs to draw the page image onto the print drum. The advantages of this technology are the low energy usage and lower manufacturing costs, perfect for the more green conscious offices.

Here at Printer Experts we found the wireless set up of this printer fairly simple and straight forward unlike some other wireless capable printers, where wireless set up can require more in depth knowledge of your network. The 1350cnw also has optional USB and Ethernet connections.

For a printer of this price we found the speed tests to be very good. The 1350cnw printed our 20 page text document in a very reasonable minute and a half. However these print speeds improved dramatically once we had optimised the printer for monochrome printing, with the same 20 page document coming in at well under the minute mark. The 1350cnw also had very similar results when we tested colour graphics.

The print quality was something that also exceeded our expectations. We found the text to be very crisp and precise with the colour images looking vibrant and realistic.

Overall, the Dell 1350cnw is a small and tidy colour laser that prints good looking documents. If you need a fairly heavy duty personal printer or a shared printer for a small office then the Dell 1350cnw is definitely one of the best printers for the job.

The Xerox Phaser 6280 is an affordable colour laser printer designed for busy workgroups producing quality colour prints. The Xerox Phaser 6280 range comprises of the network 6280N version and the duplex included 6280DN which are also available on PagePack.

With Xerox claiming great speeds of 30ppm for mono and 25ppm for colour printing we put it to the test. Printer Experts found the claims to be spot on, with a simple 30 page word document printed in just under a minute. Our 20 page colour document was printed at a blistering average speed of 25ppm. We also tested the duplex print speed on the 6280DN, which took only 18spm to print the same 30 page mono document. The impressive duplex speed is due to the printer taking the sheets in pairs, duplexing them right after each other.

With such speeds you might expect print quality issues but we found this not to be the case. Black text is clean and clear at all fonts sizes. Colour graphs and charts were vibrant with good sharp solid fills and had fantastic shading. Even the trickier colour photo tests produced results better than most of its competitors with a nice colour balance, fine detail and good detail in darker areas.

Overall the Xerox Phaser 6280 range of printers are brilliant business printers that produce good looking documents at a superb speed, able to handle the output from several people in a workgroup
